Cycling: Wheelers set to host Summer Road Race

Some of the region’s top cycling talent are expected to turn out in Doncaster Wheelers’ annual Summer Road Race next week.

Wednesday’s 36-mile race will see participants complete 20 laps of a cicruit starting and finishing in Pickburn.

The race headquarters will be located at the Pickburn Arms, where parking, toilet facilities and changing areas will be available.

British Cycling points will be awarded to the first ten to finish, while cash prizes will be handed over to the top six.

The race starts at 7.30pm, with signing on commencing from 6.30pm. For more information contact race organiser Martin Maltby on 01302 769531.

n Cusworth rider Tom Stewart finished 34th in Saturday’s inaugural Prudential RideLondon Classic.

The 23-year-old Team Raleigh star recently claimed fourth place at the two-day Tour of the Reservoir Premier Calendar round and finished 11th at the Lincoln Grand Prix.
