Cox steers Athletic home

LAST man Mick Cox (21-2) secured Mexborough Athletic a 174-151 Doncaster BA Saturday League Section A win over Yorkshire Main, for whom Phil Rees won 21-4.

Pauline Draper (21-8) put Roundwood ahead, but a 21-6 win from Charlie Wootton gave Pilkingtons Recreation victory by the narrowest of margins, 170-169.

Bill Walton (21-9) starred in Denaby’s 185-173 win at Bawtry. Yorkshire Main posted a 189-167 win over Roundwood.

Gary Potter (21-4) and Stewart Allen (21-8) stood out for Rossington in their 198-148 Section B win at Parklands.

Armthorpe saw off visiting Maltby Main (202-165). Westfield Park picked up a 178-170 home win over Rossington.

Askern had good wins from Roy Tomlinson (21-6), Dennis Reilly (21-4) and Mick Wainwright (21-7) in their 187-136 Section C victory over Adwick B.

Roy Goodwin’s 21-8 win for Roundwood C was enough for them to claim a 188-175 victory at Brodsworth.

Bawtry B beat Thorne Colliery 180-175 in Section D despite only boasting three of the 10 winners as Brenda Marrison (21-8) and Paddy Moyles (21-6) both showed up well.

Lorraine Burton, Luke Carrington and Stan Job all won 21-9 for Carcroft B in a 185-137 win over Piks Pensioners.

Neil Langley’s 21-7 win for Westfield Park B was in vain as Daniel Evans (21-5), Liam O’Brien (21-7) and Bob Louden (21-9) won well for Pilkington Rec B in their 181-142 victory.
