NICOLAS Cole maintained his excellent progress in the pole vault as he won the all ages pole vault competition with his first jump at the opening outdoor competition of the season.
The Dearne ALC vaulter bested 4.20m at the Nottingham Outdoor Open last weekend, enough to earn him gold from his first jump.
His success allowed for attempts at a new personal best of 4.45m.
Cole is chasing a standard of 4.80m to qualify for the World Youth Championships, the European Youth Olympics as well as the Commonwealth Youth Games.
Lewis Billum was second overall in the pole vault for the day with a clearance of 3.70m which proved enough to win the under 20s category.
UK number one under 15 vaulter Adam Hague won his age group over 3.70m.
Marcus Scott took second place with 3.10m, a height more than a foot greater than that required to qualify for the All England Schools Championship.
Jack Hollingworth cleared 2.40m on his outdoor debut.
