Basketball: Perfect ten for Danum Eagles

Danum Eagles U18s came up against a resolute York Eagles on Saturday but still came away with a 68-62 win to maintain their perfect record.

George Darling led all scorers with 19 points.

York became the first team this season to the skids on the league’s leading scorer Liam Knapp, who still netted 17 points.

Eagles’ record now stands at 10-0.

Eagles U15s’ were rampant at an undermaned Rotherham Hawks team and came away 118-17 winners.

Every Danum player scored, with Mat Green (24) and Sonny Singh (20) leading the way.

Newcastle are the opponents this Saturday in a winner-takes-all game at Danum Academy. The winners will progress to the play-offs.

Danum Eagles’ women went down 59-44 against title chasing Bury but the performance showed how much the team has developed since its recent formation.

Marta Cepek continued her fine season with 17 points, while Helen Hincliffe netted 10.
