STEVE Barnes hammered a magnificent 98 in Barnby Dun’s first win of the season in Pontefract and District Cricket League Division Two.
Scott Walker chipped in with 41 as Barnby made 260-9 against Thurnscoe whose reply was restricted to 181-9 by Jonathan Young (4-37).
Andrew Lunn (36no) steered Askern to a seven-wicket success at Yorkshire Main who were routed for 92 by Dave Longley (4-14) and Paul Bradbury (3-26).
Sprotbrough had their second win in three beating Glasshoughton by 40 runs.
Dave Carr (3-48) and Mike Threapleton (2-24) limited Glasshoughton to 157-8, replying to Sprotbrough’s 197 led by 72 from Threapleton.
Nick Page (24) Hatfield’s only batsman to make an impression as they were routed for 52 in a nine-wicket defeat against Wombwell Main.
Fishlake are still without a win in Division One after losing at Frickley Colliery who recovered from 16-4 to post 160. In reply, Peter Butterworth’s battling 34 failed to save Fishlake as they fell for 136.
Sykehouse and Thorne Colliery both lost in Division Three. Sykehouse’s 27-run defeat against Darton was hard on Richard Munro (5-32) and Phil Townsend (43).
Ian Lloyd top scored with 21 as Thorne were routed for 108 at West Bretton.
Division Four leaders Brodsworth Main crushed South Kirkby A who were toppled for 62 by Michael Cassinelli (8-7).
Scott Mantovani had 4-33 as Ferrybridge Power Station were all out for 99, chasing Peglers’ 188 that featured 94 by Gulraz Rehman.
