Adam Hague and Abigail Roberts were jumping for joy after landing pole vault golds at the England Athletics Under 20 Championships in Bedford.
The Dearne Valley Athletic Club duo, both 16, will now compete at this weekend’s senior national championships in Birmingham as a result of their twin success.
Hague jumped a personal best 5.3m to also qualify for the World Youth Championships.
He will be joined at the Alexander Stadium this weekend by Roberts, who took gold with a jump of 3.85m.
Coach Trevor Fox said: “The pair of them did smashing. They both excelled themselves, Adam in particular.
“It was a real pressure jump that won it for him.
“He was in third place going into his final jump and he landed a new personal best to win and also qualify for the World Youth Championships.
“Abi did well under pressure too. It was a battle to the end and she pulled it out of the bag with 3.85m.”
Hague and Roberts will be joined in Birmingham this weekend by Thurnscoe’s Luke Cutts as he continues his preparation for this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Doncaster Athletic Club’s Ransford Anthony finished 4th in the U23 100m final in a time of 10.56.
