DONCASTER RACING: Flying the flag at Town Moor
.
TO celebrate Doncaster’s last meeting before next month’s prestigious four-day Ladbrokes St Leger Festival, Saturday’s meeting on Town Moor includes a parade of British Legion standard bearers prior to racing.
The seven-race programme includes named races for The Royal British Legion, The Crown Hotel Bawtry, Robinsons of Bawtry, Close Building Services, Park Hill Hospital, DC Training & Development Services Ltd. and the family of Keith Bownes. The principal race of the afternoon is The Lindsay Close Building Services Handicap Stakes – a £20,000 contest over seven furlongs.
First race is 2.10pm and after the last at 5.35pm Achtung Baby – the definitive U2 tribute show - will play on the Capital FM Champagne Lawn.
The giant screen opposite the main stands will enable racegoers to see all the action. A shuttle bus service will run from the railway station.
The sponsorship by The Crown Hotel Bawtry is in connection with a special St. Leger Festival Preview at the hotel on Tuesday, September 11. A black tie affair, there’s expert advice from racing broadcasters Derek Thompson and Simon Mapletoft, along with David Williams of Ladbrokes and form expert, Roger Hart.
