DONCASTER RACECOURSE: Geared up for Ladies Day

.

.

IT’S finally upon us. After all the build-up, the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival is underway and we’re now gearing up for day two - the day when glamour comes to the racecourse for DFS Ladies Day.

One of the most popular days in our racing calendar, Ladies Day attracts some of the fairest females from Doncaster and beyond for a day of great sporting and social entertainment. And great entertainment is exactly what they will get. The big races of the day are: the Japan Racing Association Sceptre Stakes, a Class One race over seven furlongs (1:50pm) and the 2:55pm DFS Park Hill Stakes, a Class One Group Two race, run over just over one mile, six furlongs for fillies and mares.

Of course, the hotly contested action is not just reserved for the track. Adding a bit of competitive spice to the occasion is the Best Dressed Lady contest, giving guests the chance to win use of a car for a year if they scoop top prize. Our chosen winner then goes forward to battle it out to win the Best Dressed Lady Racegoer in Yorkshire, also hosted at the St Leger Ladies Day race meeting later this afternoon.

Friday’s raceday takes a step up in racing stakes, as the Doncaster Cup Day gets underway. Beginning at 1:15pm is the Polypipe Flying Childers Stakes, a Class One Group Two race for two year olds. The Stobart Doncaster Cup (British Champions Series) at 2:20pm will be the highlight of the day.

With racing ending at 4:35pm it will be all hands on deck to get the course ready for the pinnacle of the meeting, the Ladbrokes St Leger Day. Gates open at 11am on Saturday. We have less than 5,000 tickets left for the meeting, with more than 25,000 people having booked their place at what promises to be a historic raceday.

The 3:40pm Ladbrokes St Leger Stakes will be the focus of everyone’s attention, with Camelot attempting to stake his claim on one of racing’s most coveted accolades, the Triple Crown.

Tickets for this afternoon will be available on the door, though there is limited availability for selected tickets. Tickets are available for Friday and Saturday but pre-booking via Doncaster Racecourse’s website is advised to avoid queuing on the day.
