TWO first half goals from Chris Wood helped Parkgate to a 5-1 victory which avenged a cup defeat earlier in the year at Pickering Town.
Parkgate were beaten 4-0 in February in the League Cup but they stamped their authority in this game in emphatic style.
They started strongly and gave a hint of what was to come when Nathan Swindells fired just wide after three minutes.
Ten minutes later they made the breakthrough when they were awarded a penalty after Daniel Cardwell had been brought down in the box.
Wood stepped up and made no mistake converting the spotkick to put Parkgate ahead.
It was 2-0 in the 22nd minute when a long throw from Cardwell led to a chance for Wood and he rattled the ball home.
Four minutes later, Luke Fletcher tried a long range shot which was saved by keeper Rob Clark before Joe Jerrison replaced the injured Gareth Clayton.
In the 36th minute Wood had a chance to complete a first half hat–trick when he went past the advancing keeper only for a defender to take the ball off his feet to deny him.
Parkgate started the second half on the attack again and they made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute when William Senior headed home from a Daniel Cardwell corner.
Four minutes later Senior turned provider with a cross that Ashley Worsfold fired into the net giving the keeper no chance.
Keir Hannity completed the rout in the 65th minute with a cheeky back heel shot following a scramble in the goalmouth.
Pickering managed to get on the scoresheet in the last minute when they were awarded a penalty for handball and Nathan Cook converted but it was scant consolation for a comprehensive defeat.
* Parkgate go to Scarborough Athletic tonight (7.45pm) and visit Nostell MW on Saturday (3pm).
