Rotherham United Ladies claimed top spot in the FA Women’s Premier League Midlands Division One with a 3-0 home win over Leafield Athletic last Sunday.

However, the deadlock was not broken until the closing stages with Jess Birtles, Nat Shaw and Grace Birchall on target in another fine team performance as Rotherham made it 4 wins from 4 home games in the league this season.

Start of day leaders Loughborough Foxes drew, so they swap places with Rotherham who are a point clear.

Rotherham now have two away local derbies, visiting Steel City Wanderers, who play their home games at Athersley Recreation, on Sunday and Mansfield Town (at the One Call Stadium) a week today.

Rotherham’s Development team suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 5-0 to Beighton Magpies in Sheffield & Hallam County League Division Three.

Mexborough Athletic drew 4-4 on their visit to Shaw Lane Aquaforce and now have a run of five successive home games during which they play each of the other teams in Division Two, commencing with leaders Sheffield Rangers.

Tasha Carlton netted a hat trick and Lisa Hill scored for Mexborough.

Life in the North East League Southern Division is proving tough for newly promoted Dearne & District. They remain bottom, still seeking their first points of the season after losing 6-0 at home to Rovers Foundation whom they meet in a quick return fixture this Sunday.
