Dearne & District took a significant stride towards becoming Sheffield & Hallam County League Division One champions thanks to a 5-0 home victory over Anston, writes Julian Barker.
A brace apiece from Nicola Savage and Jorden Spurr (pictured) along with a Megan Reece strike secured the victory for Dearne who completed their home fixtures with their best home score of the season.
Dearne now top the table, a point ahead of Chesterfield and four ahead of Barnsley Development.
Dearne’s next two games are away to Chesterfield and then Barnsley, but even if they take maximum points from those games, plus their final fixture, the return at Anston, as things stand, Dearne are not guaranteed to win the title.
For, Sheffield Wednesday Reserves could better Dearne’s maximum points total of 28, if they win all five of their remaining fixtures which would then give them a points tally of 29.
