Wilson has ‘irons in fire’

Barnsley boss Danny Wilson admits he will have to play a patient waiting game to land some transfer targets this summer.

In little over a month, Wilson and his squad will embark on a week-long training camp in Italy.

While he is yet to sign any new players, the Reds boss says he has ‘hundreds of irons in the fire.’

“If I was a new manager I might get frustrated by how long it can take to sign players, but I’ve been around a while,” said Wilson. “Players nowadays play their hand as long as they can to get the best deals they can. And that’s understandable.

“But the dynamic of our squad has changed now we’re in League One and now we’re looking for different types of players.”

Meanwhile, the Reds have announced they will hold an Open Day for their supporters at Oakwell on Sunday 27th July.
