Whiteout hits weekend fixtures

DONCASTER Council have postponed all sporting fixtures due to take place on their pitches this weekend.

With heavy snow forecast for Friday and Saturday, council officials moved to ensure there was little doubt over matches.

This affects games in the Doncaster Senior League, Doncaster Sunday Alliance League and Doncaster and District Junior Sunday League.

Maltby Main’s trip to Worksop Parramore in the NCEL Premier Division has already been postponed while Askern Villa’s trip to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic in Division One has also fallen victim to the weather.

Rotherham Council have also announced games on the pitches will not take place this weekend.

Meanwhile, Doncaster Rovers have appealed for volunteers to help them clear the Keepmoat Stadium pitch of snow should the deluge come tonight.

We will endeavour to update this page throughout the day should more games fall victim to the weather.
