Parkgate picked up their third league win in a row with a 3-1 victory over Albion Sports.
The Steelmen didn’t have things all their own way on a windy afternoon, however, and the outcome could have been very different if Thomas Dugdale’s seventh-minute shot had gone in, instead of hitting the bar and rebounding to safety.
Instead, Parkgate took the lead on 39 minutes against the run of play.
Scott Whittington broke and squared the ball to George Morley on the edge of the box, and he fired low across the ground into the bottom corner.
The last attempt of the first half came from Parkgate, as a long range shot from Daniel Abdulla went just wide.
It took the visitors just one minute after the restart to equalise, with a goal from a very acute angle on their right by Adam Jones.
Parkgate keeper Richard Watson saved his side from going further behind in the 54th minute, saving from Malacki Farquharson.
And that save looked even more important when, on 67 minutes, Simon Mirfin fired the home side in front.
And, with 12 minutes of the game left, Adam Houghton sealed the points with a third.
