Sheffield United, who last night confirmed Fenerbahce will visit Bramall Lane later this month as part of both club’s pre-season preparations, today unveiled their latest home kit, writes James Shield.
United, who announced a four year agreement with leading sportswear manufacturer adidas two weeks ago, released pictures of first team players Jamie Murphy and Ryan Flynn wearing the new design.
Murphy said: “I’m really impressed with the look of the new kits. I am sure the fans will really take to them.”
“The kits are really nice. adidas are a world recognised name,” Flynn added. “Seeing the shirts just adds to the excitement of the build-up to the new season.”
As United announced earlier this week, United’s home and away jerseys will sponsored by John Holland Sales after the prestige car dealership signed a six figure agreement with the club.
The family run firm, who are based at Meadowhall Riverside, boast an annual turnover in excess of £30m.
They buy and sell marques including Lamborghini, Maserati, Aston Martin and Ferrari on both the domestic and international markets. DBL Logistics are United’s ‘back of shirt’ partner.
Selahattin Baki, the United director and Fenerbahce supporter, confirmed proceeds from July 31st’s game against Ersun Yanal’s side will be donated to the Soma Mining Disaster Fund.
“On a personal level this is by far the top moment in my life as someone who comes from the terraces of Fenerbahçe,” Baki said. “Being a member of congress of the club and now being on the Blades board, seeing these two great names come together makes me feel very, very proud.”
Supporters can pre-order United’s new strip online until Sunday or purchase from the Bramall Lane superstore from July 12. Prices for the red and white striped top are £45 adults and £35 juniors with mini-kits, including black shorts and white socks, also priced at £35. Season ticket holders are entitled to a 10 per cent discount.
Prices for the Fenerbahce match will be announced shortly.
