Nigel Clough, the Sheffield United manager, hopes Marc McNulty’s form during training translates into a series of commanding performances next term.
McNulty, signed from Livingston earlier this summer, could make his first appearance in a United jersey when Clough’s new look squad begins its pre-season programme at Burton Albion today.
Stefan Scougall, who left the Energy Assets Arena earlier this year, insisted last week that his close friend has the potential to weak havoc when the campaign proper gets underway on August 9.
Clough told The Star: “Marc has done really well since we all reported back. He’s look sharp and he’s been finishing off chances during our practice matches.
“We know he’s capable of that. That’s why we brought him here in the first place. But it’s good to see him settle in so easily.”
Nevertheless Clough still wants to bolster the attacking options at his disposal.
“We’re always looking at good players,” Clough added. “We know the type of person we’re looking at and why we want them to come here, the role that we want them to have.”
