Nigel Adkins has warned Sheffield United will come unstuck if they treat Blackpool with contempt at Bramall Lane tomorrow, writes James Shield.

The visitors, who were relegated from the Championship last term, travel to South Yorkshire searching for their first win of the new season with manager Neil McDonald acknowledging that “pressure” is already building behind the scenes.

With Blackpool also beset by off-the-pitch problems, Adkins has admitted he wants United to exploit any sign of weakness by imposing themselves on the game but insisted: “We respect the opposition, you have to, and we have done our research on them.

“We are under no illusions, every game is a challenge in this division. Blackpool will be energetic, Neil McDonald has come in, and Blackpool were in the Premier League a couple of years ago.

“We have to give them the utmost respect, but make sure we go an impose ourselves and do what we want to throughout the course of the match.”

United enter the match having won their last three outings in all competitions and Adkins added: “Our momentum is building and we have got honest, hard-working professionals at Sheffield United.”
