Sheffield FC have strengthened their attacking options by bringing back Ashley Worsfold and veteran centre forward Brian Cusworth for their second spells with the club.

Boss Andy Kiwomya was delighted to welcome the duo, saying: “When good players become available you go for them and see if you can bring them in. I’m really pleased to have them at Sheffield FC, its important that we have all positions covered and a healthy competition for places

“Ash is here for a month and will strengthen our attacking options. He is an exciting player in the final third of the pitch which is want people want to see.

“You know what you get with Cushy. He’s an experienced player with a great attitude to the game and still has a lot to offer The young players will certainly learn from him.

We have a good relationship with Maltby and they were happy for him to have the chance to play at a higher level again.”

Worsfold arrives on a month’s loan from Evo-Stik Premier side Buxton having joined the Bucks last summer.

The 24-year-old spent his formative years at Sheffield Wednesday, before moving on to Goole. His next port of call was at Parkgate where he quickly became a prolific scorer, scoring 24 goals in 2011-12.

After a short first spell at Sheffield, he was snapped up by Nicky Law at Alfreton Town before joining Conference North Harrogate Town 12 months later where he finished Harrogate’s top scorer in the 2013-14 season.

A broken leg at the start of last season hampered his progress but after enjoying a successful loan spell with Leamington last March Worsfold then became Buxton boss Martin McIntosh’s first signing last summer.

Cusworth was in his third season for NCEL Premier Division side Maltby, having finished top scorer in the first two seasons and was leading the way this term with 12 goals.

He first made his mark at Parkgate where he was was a prolific scorer earning a move to Alfreton Town.

The big striker then moved to neighbours Stocksbridge before his first spell at Sheffield then returning to Parkgate during the 2011-12 season.

Sheffield’s away trip to Carlton Town, postponed last weekend due to a waterlogged pitch, has been rearranged for Saturday, February 20.
