THE end of the holidays cannot come soon enough for Rotherham United boss Andy Scott as he attempts to rebuild the squad.
Scott is closing in on two Championship players and hopes to complete the double deal when the duo return from their summer holiday.
He confirmed one of the players is a striker while the other is a much needed centre half.
Scott said: “I’ve agreed deals with two more players.
“They are both on holiday at the moment so they won’t be signing until they get back but I’m delighted with both signings.
“Both play for Championship clubs and both are on free transfers, so its good business from our point of view.
“Both are young players and have the opportunity to improve under us, but also bring in some good quality that we’ve been lacking.
“One’s a centre forward and the others a centre half who can play at full back.”
Midfielder Jason Taylor looks set to pen a new one year deal shortly which is a boost to Scott who also revealed highly touted out of contract players Ryan Taylor and Nicky Law would most likely be leaving the club.
He said: “Ryan has turned down the contract we offered him which wasn’t a surprise.
“We’ve had a couple of offers from Championship clubs for him so we’re anticipating his departure.
“With Nicky we accepted a fee from another League Two club, gave them a timeline but he hasn’t signed.
“We had an offer from a League One club but it didn’t meet out valuation. “We’re still anticipating that Nicky will be leaving but it’s a case of whether we can agree a deal with the club or have to go to tribunal.”
“It’s good to get Jason on board because he’s a good lad to have around the place.
“He’s a versatile player who is capable of a good standard.”
