MILLERS boss Andy Scott has received a ‘verbal agreement’ from two of the six players he has offered new deals.

But speculation continues to link top duo Ryan Taylor and Nicky Law with futures away from Rotherham.

Scott revealed that Dale Tonge and Jason Taylor are both close to penning new deals after they declared their intention to stay.

He said: “Dale and Jason came back to me last weekend and indicated they want to sign the deals so it’s good news to have both of those players involved with us next year.

“Both are away at the moment but I have spoken to their representatives and they are happy with the deals.

“The contracts are written up and we have a verbal agreement that they will sign.

“But as we know we won’t count our chickens until they have signed on the bottom line.”

Meanwhile newly–promoted Conference champions Crawley Town are the latest to be linked with Law, who is also out of contract.

The big spenders are already favourites for the League Two title.

They made an initial move for Law last summer but he was committed to the Millers’ push for promotion.

Law has also been linked with League One sides Chesterfield and Scunthorpe United, as has striker Ryan Taylor.

Millers chief operating officer Paul Douglas offered a boost to supporters by revealing talks with all six out of contract players are at an advanced stage.

Douglas said: “We have held meeting with the players and their representatives and contract offers have been submitted by the club.

“We are at an advances stage with one or two and are still talking with the rest but at the moment no final decisions have been reached.

“We are hopeful that something can be announced very shortly.”

The Millers have confirmed part of their pre–season schedule with a tasty tie with Sheffield Wednesday the standout friendly.

The Owls will visit Don Valley on July 19 with Scunthorpe also hosted (July 27) while there will be trips to Grimsby (July 16), Stocksbridge (July 26) and Parkgate (August 1).
