Rotherham Utd vs Port Vale

Vale Park, February 1, 7.45pm

THINGS were looking good for the Valiants, right up until Micky Adams decided to join his boyhood club Sheffield United.

Since he walked on December 30, Vale have won just once and have now slipped from second to fifth and they are now two points from the final automatic promotion spot.

New boss Jim Gannon will be keen to show this one of those little blips most sides go through, rather than a negative reaction to Adams’ departure.

Promotion will likely rest on the strong home form they have built so far with six wins from their 10 matches at Vale Park, conceding just seven goals in the process.

MANAGER

JIM Gannon snubbed former employers Stockport to take the most tantilising job in League Two earlier this month.

Highly rated after taking Stockport to League One on a meagre budget, Gannon them found himself made redundent as County went into administration so he joined Motherwell.

Sacked for not being ‘fully committed’ Gannon then failed to keep Peterborough in the Championship and left for family reasons.
