Captain Lee Frecklington will start for Rotherham United against Cardiff City on Saturday, manager Alan Stubbs has confirmed.
The midfield man, who has made two substitute appearances after recovering from a calf problem, will lead the side at New York Stadium against the Championship’s bottom club.
“Frecks will be in the team. It will be good to see him back out there,” said Stubbs. “He’s had an immediate impact both times he’s come off the bench.”
The boss revealed that striker Dexter Blackstock, signed as a free agent more than two weeks ago, will be in the squad for the first time as long as he comes through training today and tomorrow.
Right-back Darnell Fisher will return at right-back after a one-match ban, with Stephen Kelly missing out with a thigh injury, and Stubbs said he was considering more changes after last weekend’s 4-2 defeat at Blackburn Rovers.
Midfielder Tom Adeyemi, signed on a season-long loan, is ineligible to play against his parent club.
