“Goals, goals, goals ...”

In his own words, that what new Rotherham United striker Luciano Becchio is after.

The 30-year-old hitman, who arrived on loanfrom Norwich City on transfer deadline day, opened his Millers account in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Charlton Athletic.

He said: “I am very happy to come here. Hopefully we can get some points while I am here.

“I just want to score goals. Goals, goals, goals. That’s my job.”

The former Leeds United man accepts he still has work to do on his fitness but has targeted more starts with the club he has joined until January.

“I want a starting shirt on Saturday,” he said. “I’m not 100 per cent fit so I’ve had to train hard.

“We will see. The fitness is coming on. It’s not too bad now.

“We have got too many strikers! But they are brilliant players and great people. We have to train hard and then it’s the manager’s decision who he plays.”

Becchio, who was also on target for Rotherham reserves in their 4-2 win on Tuesday against Hartlepool United, added: “I’m a striker and all strikers want to score goals. But the most important thing is the team and how it does in the Championship.”

Meanwhile, skipper and centre-half Craig Morgan will miss out at Ipswich Town on Saturday as he serves a one-match ban for picking up five bookings.
