Rotherham United crashed to a record AESSEAL New York Stadium defeat as they were shredded in the second half by AFC Bournemouth in the FA Cup third round.

The Millers had no answer as the Championship leaders struck four times in 13 devastating minutes to turn a 1-1 half-time stalemate into a 5-1 rout.

The defeat eclipsed previous 4-0 home losses against Swindon and Southend.

Second-half goals came from Junior Stanislas, Ryan Fraser and a Yann Kermorgant double between the 58th and 71st minutes.

The Millers had taken a 10th-minute lead when right-back Richard Brindley’s low 20-yard shot found the net with the help of a deflection

But Shaun MacDonald equalised in the 44th minute, sliding the ball home after a prolonged spell of passing from the visitors had opened up the Rotherham defence.

Reece James and Lee Frecklington shot over towards the end but by then the home side were well beaten.
