Chesterfield spent the first couple of minutes in the ascendency but Barnsley managed the first shot, Lee having to save from Houtihane after a Cole break that Winnall carried on.

Evatt robbed Winnall as the visitors enjoyed a dominant spell, Crainie being at the heart of most moves down the right.

Doyle and Roberts combined well but the latter’s cross was cleared by Nyatanga with Clucas poised.

The referee played on whilst Dudgeon was grounded as O’Shea’s shot was deflected for what became back to back corners that saw Turnbull punch away the second only for Bailey to miscue but his slice back into the danger area was cleared.

Jones earned a corner but Turnbull caught O’Shea’s left wing kick whilst the next time he had the ball, Jones picked out Doyle but his header was gathered by the keeper. Doyle hit just wide from 20 yards as Spireites bossed again.

Cole won a corner for Barnsley and Nyatanga’s towering header was blocked by Lee and O’Shea hacked out for another but this time Hourihane’s delivery passed through the box unencumbered.

Rampage needlessly conceded a corner that led to Evatt heading over from a great position as the atmosphere in the stadium was electric. Cole lost out to Jones but earned a corner, Lee punched Hourihane’s delivery clear. Chesterfield took the lead on 42 minutes when Clucas headed on for DOYLE to chip his 18th of the season over Turnbull.

Ryan was booked for a foul on Cole but Darikwa cleared Hourihane’s free kick and the rapid counter attack won a corner that was cleared, Spireites should have done better from the attack.

Darikwa fouled Dudgeon and joined Ryan in the book, Banks headed the free kick clear. Hemmings found himself in the clear after a stray pass was deflected into his path but, despite creating himself a great opening, he saw Lee’s leg deflect the ball wide for a corner that came to nothing.

Doyle hit high after Roberts had nicked the ball off Bailey as the game ebbed and flowed, always at a fair lick.

Evatt did enough to crowd out Hemmings but the Barnsley man still managed to get a shot in and from the next wave of attacks, Spireites doubled their lead. DOYLE did it again, receiving on the left side if the box, before cutting in to right foot home from 15 yards on 59.

Humphreys replaced Banks to give the hosts a more solid looking midfield. Trotta replaced Bailey as Barnsley began to take more risks to try and get back in the game.

Cole received from Trotta and his shot clipped Lee to go out for the first of two corners, Hourihane’s second saw Darikwa clear off the line from a Winnall header. Treacy came on for Hemmings.

Jones blaze just wide after magical play from O’Shea that came about after Roberts was on hand to take advantage of a poor Ramage header away.

Darikwa did well to tackle Dudgeon at the cost of a corner that Ryan headed away. Raglan blocked a Cole delivery and Darikwa did well to conjure a goal kick when Winnall was set to cross in. Treacy hit wide from a good box-edge position after a burst of pace by Cole.

Doyle’s cross clipped Nyatanga and just flew over his own bar. Gnanduillet replaced O’Shea ahead of the corner which saw Raglan head wide.

A rapid break down the left saw Dudgeon do well to cross in and, despite Jones’s best efforts, TREACY scored from six yards to register his first for the club.

Doyle was booked as Barnsley threw everyone forwards looking for a point. Lita replaced Dudgeon in stoppage time.
