Parkgate continued their promising pre-season preparations with a solid 2-0 win over Brodsworth Welfare.

Bouncing back from their 9-1 thrashing against Championship side Rotherham United last weekend, Parkgate went in at half-time all square after a goalless 45 minutes with their Doncaster opposition.

However, they claimed an encouraging win thanks to second half strikes from Craig Fletcher and Ben Langford as they ran out 2-0 winners at Welfare.

Pre-season preparations were being finalised this week with Parkgate due to face a Rotherham Academy side before the serious business of league football begins again this weekend.

The Steelmen start their NCEL Premier Division campaign on August 9 at Garforth Town before welcoming Armthorpe Welfare to Roundwood Sports Complex the following Tuesday for their first home game of the season.

They will then be in FA Cup action with the extra preliminary round due to take place on August 16.

Parkgate will face North West Counties Premier League opposition in the form of Congleton Town after the draw delivered a home tie for the Rawmarsh-based club against the Cheshire side.

The FA Cup first round features 32 non-league teams that are successful in preliminary qualifying.
