Just two games in at the New York Stadium and Rotherham United are already making a habit of coming from behind to win.

They did it to Barnsley on Saturday, and after falling behind to a cracker from David Cotterill, they zipped back to topple Rovers with a winning goal 20 minutes from from time by on-trial striker Kieran Agard who was at Yeovil last season.

It backed up the first goal at the ‘home end’, an equaliser by Mark Bradley five minutes earlier.

There were some near misses at both ends in the opening 20 minutes in a lively start.

Ben Pringle wasn’t far wide from 22 yards and then was denied the opener by the legs of Gary Woods.

Rovers should then have scored.

Robbie Blake found James Husband moving forward. His centre to the far post wasn’t finished off by Paul Keegan but the miscue fell for Chris Brown who thundered a shot goalwards only for Andy Warrington’s face to be in the way!100

Brown even went to check on the ex-Rovers keeper. He was groggy but quickly shook it off.

Revell spun to strike an 18 yarder inches wide and then he nodded down for the lively Pringle to fire off a fierce 20 yarder that Woods saved.

It was a good test for both sets of defenders as the teams moved the ball about and a superb low centre from young Husband saw David Syers just fail to connect by inches. When he repeated it a bit later, Syers diverted his effort wide.

The best chance yet went to David Cotterill but Warrington denied him superbly.

Then excitement at the other end with Revell having two goalbound efforts blocked and Odejayi’s follow-up was pushed on to the bar by Woods.

After Revell lifted a chance over Maxted but wide, Rovers led with a quality strike on 54 minutes.

Cotterill pounced on a loose ball and, at an angle on the right, struck a superb effort from 25 yards which flew beyond Warrington into the far corner.

Rotherham put on Doncaster-born Mitchell Rose and on trial Agard and they levelled on 65 minutes.

Rose found Pringle and central defender Mark Bradley had made a lot of ground to receive his pass on the right and drill a crisp low strike from 16 yards inside the far post - Rotherham’s first goal at the North end..

Five minutes later Odejayi flicked on and Agard wriggled into space, fired home, and celebrated wildly. It didn’t earn him a name check however, the announcer saying “the scorer of Rotherham’s second goal... Number 22.”

Odejayi and Nicky Hunt for Rotherham and Brown and Amari Morgan-Smith for Rovers all might have scored in the final 15 minutes of an entertaining evening’s football.
