Parkgate’s poor NCEL Premier Division run continued last weekend after a dramatic 4-3 defeat at Handsworth Parramore.

Parramore have three games in hand on the league leaders and are now only five points from the summit after the result.

The Steelmen enjoyed an improved performance against in form opposition, but despite a Alex Lill hat trick the reds left Handsworth empty-handed.

Jon Froggart opened the scoring after 36 minutes for the title chasers, before luke Fletcher doubled the home side’s advantage just two minutes later.

However, on the stroke of half time, Lill ensured that the game was far from over for the Roundwood men as he struck for the reds.

However, shortly after half time the hosts had regained their two goal advantage as Froggatt added a second.

The game was well and truly over for Parkgate however, when Parramore notched a fourth goal through Richard Adams before the hour mark.

Lill hit back with 25 minutes left to play, and completed his hat trick with just under 15 minutes left to play.

However, Parkgate weren’t able to force an unlikely equaliser and complete the comeback.

The result leaves The Steelmen 15th in the league, without a win in six league games.

Parkgate host Hackley this weekend as they go in search of three points against a side currently two clear of them in the league.

Meanwhile Swinton Athletic were victorious in the County Senior Premier League, as they beat Handsworth Parramore Reserves 1-0 to take a fourth win in seven league games.
