Tumbler lose unbeaten record but remain top

TUMBLER stay top of the Doncaster Sunday Alliance League Premier Division on goal difference despite suffering their first defeat (6-4) against Corner Pin.

Luke Townsend helped himself to four of the goals, as Pin recorded their first win of the season, with James Taylor and Richard Yeomans also netting. Bullcroft Sports & Pastimes maintained their good start to the season with a 5-3 win over promoted Sprotbrough, for whom Jonathan Mirfin (2) and Kevin Severn netted.

Last season’s Championship winners, Canal Tavern, beat Eden Grove 6-2 to claim their third win in four starts. Peter Walmsley and Rob Mahon shared out the Grove consolation goals. Stag Inn beat fellow strugglers Bentley Top Club by the odd goal in seven to bag their first win in four starts.

Social Bar edged a 3-2 win at FC Dunscroft, for whom Sean Gorman and Craig Killgallon shared out their goals.

Finningley Athletic continue to fly high in the Championship after a brace by Lewis Truman secured them a 2-1 win over Park Social (Vinnie Ogbe).

Second-placed Sportsman Inter Stella lost ground when being held to a 0-0 draw at Toll Bar.

Hawthorn climbed into third place on goal difference after romping to a 6-1 at lowly Carpenters Arms. Mark Carter and Ryan Evans shared out four of the goals with Nick Howcroft and Kyle Jones also finding the target.

Brodsworth United and Windmill battled out a 4-4 draw. Edlington Top Club also had to settle for a share of the spoils after being held to a 3-3 draw by Wheatsheaf (Liam Hughes, Austin Hallam and Gary Williams).

Stainforth climbed off the bottom after beating new ‘wooden spoonists’ Wheatley Hotel (Craig Newson) 4-1.

Three Horse Shoes United beat third-placed Skellow Rangers 1-0 in the only League One game of the day.
