The Blues continue their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Goole AFC a week before their 2014-15 campaign begins.

Karl Rose’s Athletic will travel to East Yorkshire to take on Evo-Stik First Division South outfit Goole on Saturday ahead of their Premier League curtain-raiser at home to Rushall Olympic on August 16 (3pm).

It’s been a packed pre-season for Athletic which has included victory over Garforth Town as well as games against Hemsworth MW, Maltby Main, and recently Scunthorpe United and North Ferriby.

Just one goal separated Rose’s men from League One side Scunthorpe as veteran striker Deon Burton clinched victory for the Iron.

A few days later, Frickley hosted North Ferriby but were on the receiving end of a 3-1 defeat.

The Westfield Lane faithful saw Ferriby take a 3-0 lead thanks to Danny Emerton, Nathan Jarman and Tom Denton.

Frickley later pulled a goal back after 54 minutes when Ryan Williams converted from inside the area during the 3-1 loss.

Athletic next head to Goole in the hope that they can finish their pre-season off in style.

And Rose has been bolstered by a number of names signing on the dotted line for Frickley for this term with a handful of players committing their futures to the Blues.

Latest recruits include right-back Matt Knowles and winger Sam Jones.

Knowles, 27, played for Droylsden last season, as 20-year-old Jones featured for Leeds Metropolitan University.

Coaches Lee Stratford and Jon Hood as well as Rose himself have also re-registered with the club.
