Matty Young’s free-kick claimed a dramatic late equaliser for Frickley Athletic to snatch a share of the points at Halesowen on Saturday.
Frickley had fallen behind early on in the first real chance of the game, with Daniel Bragoli heading in at the back post from a flick on after a corner into the box.
In response Frickley’s Young found Jack Wakefield from a free-kick but his header was pushed over the top and from the resulting corner, Young’s perfect cross sailed through the crowd untouched.
Young’s deliveries caused problems throughout, and in the 31st minute another corner was deflected against the near post before being put over the bar.
Isenden Christie fired over from a good chance for the visitors just before the break, and the second half saw more Frickley pressure building.
The game was finely poised with Halesowen looking increasingly dangerous on the break but Frickley would have their point.
Just as their efforts looked to have been in vain, Young finally got his reward. Two minutes inside stoppage time his free-kick evaded everyone including the Halesowen keeper and found its way inside the post to give Athletic their second point of the season.
