Football: Quartet of teams to join Doncaster Senior League

Four new teams have been admitted to the Doncaster Senior League.

Frickley Academy will join Armthorpe Markham Main, Hemsworth MW, Rossington Main, South Elmsall United Services, Yorkshire Main, Swinton Athletic, Sutton Rovers and Dunscroft United in next season’s Premier Division.

The three other newcomers - Balby Carr, Valley Knights and South Kirkby Colliery - will start life in Division One.

They will be joined by Bawtry Town, Brodsworth Welfare, Denaby United, FC Central, Harworth Colliery and Scawthorpe Scorpions in the second tier.

The new campaign will kick-off on September 6.

League chairman Peter Jordan presented the Meritorious Good Conduct Shield to Harworth Colliery at the league’s recent AGM.

Re-elected onto the management committee were John Bradley, John Chappell, Peter Griffiths, Peter Jordan, Ged Parsons and Denis Tynom.
