Swinton Athletic LFC had an unenviable away pairing to Oughtibridge LFC in the league’s Krukowski Cup, writes Julian Barker.

Athletic, who have conceded double figures in four of their five games in Sheffield & Hallam County League Division Two, faced their table-topping counterparts who have yet to drop a point or concede a goal.

Having already won 18-0 and 10-0 in their league meetings with Swinton last month, it was no surprise that Oughtibridge won the cup tie, the final score being 19-0.

But Oughtibridge had plenty of praise for Swinton who fulfilled the fixture.

In a Division Two fixture, Mexborough were handicapped by having less than 11 players for much of their game at Sheffield Rangers, so a 6-2 defeat was a creditable score in the circumstances.
