Frickley chairman Chairman Gareth Dando paid tribute to the club’s volunteers after they picked up their first silverware in nine years at Hillsborough last week.
Joe Wilcox scored a dramatic injury time winner, as the Blues beat Sheffield FC 4-3 in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup Final.
“This win was a great reward for all those who give up countless hours of their free time to help out at the club,” Dando said.
“It’s nights like that which make all the hard work worthwhile.
“I’d also like to thank the fans for their support throughout the season, and especially on Thursday night.
“They were fantastic and gave the lads a real lift when they needed it, and I know the players appreciated the support they received.”
Matt Roney had given Sheffield the lead after 43 seconds, but Gavin Allott equalised with his 30th goal of the season.
Captain Matty Bloor put Frickley ahead, and substitute Luke Hinsley scored a stunner to put them 3-1 up.
A penalty from Steve Woolley and a strike from Andy Gascoigne put them level, before Wilcox’s late heroics handed them the cup.
“The game was typical of our season, in that it was end to end stuff,” Dando added.
“But we kept going and showed some great spirit to win the cup in stoppage time.”
