Barnsley manager David Flitcroft will move to secure the futures of several of his players in the next few weeks - and on-loan striker Chris O’Grady could be one of the first.

O’Grady was a big hit during his loan spell from South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday, scoring six times in 16 games as the Reds secured their Championship status for another season.

O’Grady is thought not to have a future under Dave Jones at Hillsborough.

“The players fought tooth and nail (to stay up,” Flitcroft said.

“We deserved it.”
