Rossington Main’s second string ended the season on a high after getting their hands on the Premier Division Knockout Cup.
Two quickfire goals from Scott Maughan and Marcel Chipamunga earned Main a 2-0 win over Sutton Rovers in front of a healthy crowd at Yorkshire Main on Friday night.
After a close fought first half, underdogs Rossington grabbed the lead on 55 minutes.
Maughan latched onto Tom Harte’s superb slide-rule pass to cleverly chip the on-rushing Rovers goalkeeper and break the deadlock.
Within four minutes Main doubled their lead.
Chipamunga took advantage of a poor defensive header to slide the ball home from close range and spark wild celebrations among the Rossington contingent.
Main, who lie sixth in the Premier Division table, finish their league campaign at home to South Elmsall United Services on Saturday.
Sutton finished second in the final standings behind champions Denaby United.
