LATEST NEWS: Keegan back with Doncaster Rovers
DEAL CLOSE: Paul Keegan is set to agree a two month rolling contract with Rovers.
PAUL Keegan is close to agreeing a short term deal with Doncaster Rovers.
The midfielder joined Rovers in pre-season training earlier this week and is currently thrashing out a temporary contract with the club as he looks to prove his fitness.
Keegan has made just 13 appearances since joining Rovers 18 months ago and was limited to just one start and two substitute appearances last season due to a serious knee problem.
Boss Dean Saunders said: “We’re hoping to give him a short, two month rolling contract which we will try to cover ourselves with with the injury he had last season.
“If it reoccurs, we shake hands and that’s it.
“But I think he’ll be alright, he’s still a young man.
“He had a nightmare last season with injuries but I’ve seen enough of him to know he’s going to have a real good go if we pick him.
“He’s the right type of character we want.
“I think we had too many footballers last season and not enough warriors, not enough lads of that type who go and battle their way out of a problem.
“He’s one that will.”
