Former Doncaster Rovers midfielder Barnes goes Greek
GREECE LIGHTNING: Former Rovers midfielder Giles Barnes has joined PAOK on trial.
GILES Barnes has joined up with Greek side PAOK on trial.
The 24-year-old was among the group of players to depart Doncaster Rovers at the end of last season and is looking to earn a permanent deal with Thessoloniki side PAOK.
Barnes will spend the next ten days on trial with the club while they are on a pre-season trip to Holland.
PAOK are currently managed by former Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town midfielder Giorgos Donis.
Donis recently secured a loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur centre half Bongani Khumalo.
Should Barnes secure a deal with PAOK he will become the fifth player released by Rovers last month to find a new club.
James Hayter, Sam Hird, Adam Lockwood and Oscar Radford have all joined new clubs while Simon Gillett strongly hinted he has agreed a move.
Barnes made 35 appearances for Rovers after joining on a free last summer.
