DONS: Miller demands maximum effort for play offs

TONY Miller insists this Sunday’s play off clash with Barrow will not be a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show for the Dons.

Players and staff alike enjoyed wild celebrations following the Championship One title win two weeks ago.

But Miller insists it was back to business the morning after as he plots a silverware double, starting with the initial semi final at home on Sunday (3pm).

He said: “We’d not had a drink for weeks before the day we won the title and we’d always said we’d have a few if we won it.

“But we also knew it’d be a one night only thing and we’d then be waiting until after the play offs.

“We’re determined to win the play offs and we’ve worked hard towards that foal.

“We re-focussed and we’ve put in the hard yards in to prepare for what we hope is a run all the way to the title.

“There’s another trophy and more prize money to play for and I’d like to see us have both titles in our hands after a great season.”

Should the Dons beat Barrow on Sunday, they will progress straight to the September 30 Grand Final at Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium.

If not, they have a second chance to reach the final on September 23 at home to either Workington or Whitehaven.

But Miller is aiming to get it right first time.

He said: “We’re in a fortunate position as we have the buffer of having two bites at the cherry.

“We know Barrow are a very strong team and it will be a tough game but I’m confident we can progress this week and book our place at Warrington.

“We want the title and we’re determined to get it.”
