DAVID Cotterill, the hero of last night’s 1-0 League One win over Oldham at the Keepmoat Stadium will miss Saturday’s FA Cup second round tie between the two teams at Boundary Park.

Cotterill, who scored the only goal of the game direct from a second half free-kick, later picked up his fifth booking. He will be joined on the sidelines by striker Iain Hume who picked up two yellow cards in a stoppage-time incident which resulted in.

Oldham keeper Dean Bouzanis being red-carded.

The two incidents took some of the gloss off Rovers fourth successive win which saw them move level with leaders Tranmere Rovers.

“We dug a result out,” said Rovers boss Dean Saunders.

“I said to the players at half-time that we aren’t making much headway and to lift the tempo in the second half.

“We managed to score a goal, which was a bit of a strange one - I don’t know whether the goalkeeper wasn’t ready, but Cotts bent it in in the corner and that’s three in three games, so he’s doing well. I thought we played miles better in the second half and credit to the supporters because they made a difference.”
