BRIAN Flynn will resume his hunt in the loan market today after completing the signing of England U19 captain John Lundstram.

The Everton midfielder joined Rovers on an initial one month loan deal yesterday but may not be the last new addition to the squad this week.

Flynn acknowledged a desperate need for reinforcements earlier this week after lacklustre Rovers were held to a 1-1 draw at Crawley Town.

Lundstram was targeted to add bite to the Rovers midfield after developing a reputation as a tough tackler as a regular in the Everton U21 side.

The 19-year-old also reportedly has a great range of passing with his left foot.

Lundstram skippered the England U19 side that beat Denmark 2-1 at the Keepmoat earlier this month.

The Liverpool-born midfielder was said to be impressed by the facilities in Doncaster and jumped at the chance to secure his first senior loan move when told of the interest yesterday.

Lundstram’s loan deal comes with the option of extending it until the end of the season.

With Martin Woods, Paul Keegan, David Syers and Andy Griffin all joining the injured list in recent weeks, the midfield has quickly become a key target area for Flynn.

But a striker is also high on the Welshman’s priority list.

His on-going pursuit of Sheffield Wednesday forward Gary Madine suffered another setback earlier this week when the 23-year-old came off the bench for the Owls at Birmingham on Tuesday night.

Flynn has also suffered a blow in his pursuit of Oldham midfielder Dean Furman.

The 24-year-old slipped down the Latics pecking order before leaving for Africa Cup of Nations duty with South Africa but he started and scored for Oldham in Tuesday’s 2-1 win at Stevenage.

Flynn could yet return to Merseyside in his hunt for a loan signing after being linked with Liverpool’s Hungarian striker Krisztian Adorjan.
