Doncaster Rovers 1 Stevenage 1

CHRIS Brown scored his fourth goal of the season as Rovers rallied in the second half to rescue a hard-earned point.

Following a quiet opening to the game, Stevenage stole the initiative in the 16th minute when an unmarked Oliver Risser headed home Philipe Morais's cross.

Dave Syers missed a glorious chance to equalise before the break and the hosts' frustration mounted when the midfielder also had a goal ruled out for offside on the stroke of half time.

The introduction of James Harper as a second half substitute gave Rovers extra impetus after the break and their persistence was finally rewarded when Brown lashed home from close range on 79 minutes.

A cross from the left was headed back across the face of goal by Rob Jones and Brown was on hand to beat Chris Day with an emphatic finish.

What was previously something of a chess match between two evenly matched sides suddenly became more of an open contest and both sides almost nicked all three points.

Lucas Akins saw his volley blocked on the line by Jones before Brown turned and swivelled in the box but saw his volley saved by Day.

Second half substitutes Harper, Iain Hume and James Husband all put forward their case for a starting berth for Wednesday's trip to Norwich City by coming off the bench and contributing to the comeback.
