Four youngsters have been released by Doncaster Rovers, the club have revealed.
Youth contingent Jordan Binns, Josh Meade, Evan Finnegan and Chris Whincop have this week all been told they will not be offered contract extensions after their current deals came to an end.
All four came through the Rovers ranks but were unable to break into the first team during a difficult Championship campaign.
Rovers have yet to annouce the fates of the remaining out-of-contract players who are Ross Turnbull, Jon Maxted, Liam Wakefield, Jamie McCombe, Gabriel Tamas, Abdoulaye Meite, David Cotterill, Paul Keegan, James Coppinger, Alex Peterson, Billy Paynter and Harry Middleton.
A statement on the club’s website said that Rovers would be issuing a ‘retained list’ on Friday, May 16.
On the released group, the club’s official statement also read: “The quartet all came through the Rovers ranks before being offered their first professional contracts.
“Unfortunately Rovers have decided against retaining them.
“We would like to take the time to thank the players for their efforts and contributions while at the football club and wish them the best of luck in the future.
“They will always be welcomed back to Doncaster Rovers and the Keepmoat Stadium.”
The deadline for the submission of a confirmed retained list to the Football Association is next Friday.
