Saturday’s win over Wigan must be a light-bulb moment in Doncaster’s season, according to two-goal hero Chris Brown.

Brown, who netted for the first time in eight games in the emphatic 3-0 win, can certainly see some light at the end of the tunnel after Rovers ended a nine-game win-less run in style against the Latics.

And the powerhouse forward says the victory should flick a collective switch among his teammates.

“We’ve got to see Saturday as a realisation of how well we can play,” said Brown.

“For one reason or another we’ve been well short of that.

“But at the weekend we had a game plan and we went at it with everything we had.

“The gaffer was obviously delighted but he’s told us to continue showing what we can do.”

The inclusion of new arrivals Abdoulaye Meite and Gabriel Tamas, as well as fit-again midfielder Paul Keegan, were key to the performance, Brown said.

“Everyone was a little bit nervous before the game because it’s been that long since we won,” he said.

“But you’d never have thought that judging by the performance.

“From the off we were outstanding. We overpowered them in every aspect.

“Big Abdou [Meite] and Tamas brought a bit of experience to the back four and Keegs obviously came in and made a massive difference. From the start he was pressing and winning tackles.

“I just think we looked a lot more solid, a lot more confident. We just seemed to know exactly how we were playing.

“Everyone was singing from the same hymn sheet.”
