The rigours of the Championship may force Paul Dickov into squad rotation, Rovers’ boss has admitted.

Dickov described Doncaster’s defeat to Bournemouth before the international break as a ‘game too far’ for several members of his squad.

As Rovers head into three games in seven days, starting with tomorrow’s trip to Huddersfield Town, Dickov is open to rotation.

“With the amount of games coming up, we might have to rotate,” he said.

“But I’m a big believer that you don’t change a winning team unless you really have to.

“I say to the players all the time ‘it’s up to you - you’ve got the shirt, keep it’.

“One thing the players need to know is that I’ve shown before, when the team has done well, I’ve kept faith with a winning team,” he added.

“If I feel the team is not doing as well as it can be, I’ll make changes.

“The players that we’ve got here are all good players, whether they’re in the team or not.

“You’ve just got to look at the bench with the likes of Paul Quinn, Billy Paynter, Mark Duffy and Harry Forrester on there.

“That gives me the opportunity to change it if I think someone’s having a bad time or I want to freshen it up.”

Harry Forrester is expected to be fit tomorrow despite missing Tuesday’s reserve defeat to Hull with a slight knock.
