Doncaster Rovers vs Preston North End

Keepmoat Stadium, April 12, 7.45pm

THE very fact Preston are not currently sat at the foot of the Championship is testament to a remarkable fight back the Lilywhites are currently producing under Phil Brown.

In the bottom three for more than three quarters of the season, Preston have spent the last 20 matches rooted in last spot – until last weekend.

The victory over promotion chasing Swansea was their third in a row, remarkably only their eighth of the season.

But it all might have come a bit too late for troubled North End with only eight games remaining and an eight point margin to reduce.

STAR MAN

PAUL Coutts was largely unknown when Darren Ferguson snatched him from former club Peterborough a year ago.

But the young Scotsman quickly established himself as an important creative midfielder after a string of powerful and energetic performances where he displayed an excellent right foot and ability to pick out a pin-point pass.

Not bad for a lad playing in the Highland League two years ago.
