Doncaster Rovers vs Cardiff City

Keepmoat Stadium, April 9, 3pm

CARDIFF looked well on course for promotion before the first month of the season had passed.

After going so close last term, the Bluebirds kept faith with boss Dave Jones and held much of their strong squad together.

And them came the high profile signing of Craig Bellamy.

Achieving promotion has not been as simple as turning up for Cardiff and while their home form has been impressive, on the road they have suffered, losing as many as they have won despite conceding less than a goal a game.

Victory over Derby last weekend was Cardiff’s first in five matches. Could they have returned to form at the right time?

STAR MAN

THERE were more than a few eyebrows raised when Jay Bothroyd was called up to the England squad for the friendly with France in November, more so when he came off the bench.

But it was a much deserved reward for the 28-year-old striker after a blistering start to the season at Cardiff.

The pacy and strong former Arsenal trainee has flourished in his peak years and has managed 17 goals this term.
