Rovers’ out of contract players have begun to hear whether or not they will be offered a new deal.

A total of 16 senior players have reached the end of their deals with only 12 remaining under contract.

The squad has been called to Cantley Park this week to hear boss Paul Dickov’s plans for the assault on League One next term.

The Star understands the younger members of the squad have already been informed of their fate.

No official announcement is expected until next week from the club.

The deadline for the submission of a confirmed retained list to the Football Association is next Friday and it is understood the club feels there is no rush to make this public until closer to the time.

Loanees Billy Sharp, Bongani Khumalo, Sam Johnstone and Lucas Neill have returned to their parent clubs.
