Paul Dickov wants a positive performance from today’s curtain-raiser with Yeovil.

The Scotsman has had yet another interrupted pre-season following a second takeover setback in as many seasons.

However, Dickov has rallied to assemble a side he believes are capable of competing in League One.

That has included bringing in defenders Cedric Evina and Reece Wabara, strikers Nathan Tyson and Curtis Main and goalkeepers Jed Steer and Marko Marosi.

Stalwart servant James Coppinger has also committed his future to the club and Paul Keegan has agreed to a one-month extension.

Scawsby-born Liam Wakefield has also penned a one-year deal.

In contrast, Yeovil Town have had much more of a stable pre-season, securing no less than 11 captures.

That includes former Doncaster midfielder Simon Gillett, Crewe’s AJ Leitch-Smith and Jakub Sokolik from Liverpool.

Dickov knows the threat Gary Johnson’s Yeovil possess, however, he is confident Rovers can return from Huish Park with a strong start.

“We have seen a few of their pre-season games and we know it is going to be tough but we want to get off to a good start,” Dickov told The Star.

“It is really important that we go down there and we are positive and we try and win as we always do.”
