Doncaster Rovers: I need to get back to my best says Dany N’Guessan

Rovers new boy Dany N’Guessan knows he has to get back to his best after his move to the Keepmoat.

N’Guessan has played more than 230 games across all three divisions of the Football League, scoring 50 goals.

The French forward’s career has had peaks and troughs but he is determined to show the best is yet to come after signing a two-year deal with Rovers.

“I think I have more to show and I also have to show what I can do again,” N’Guessan told the Star.

“I have to be what I used to be and show even more.

“Hopefully I will have a good time here and enjoy my football again.”

He is an ex-team mate of Rovers boss Paul Dickov and says his former Leicester City colleague sold him on the club’s ambition.

He said: “We talked about the ambition of the club and he talked very good about that.

“He has brought in some very good players, most of them could easily play in the Championship.

“Let’s see what will happen in the league but it’s looking very good so far.”

The 27-year-old finished last season with AE Larrisa who he joined after leaving Port Vale in February.

He had an agreement with the Valiants that he could leave if he found a more lucrative deal elsewhere but the Greek financial crisis saw him seek a return to English football.

He said: “For me, to be in Greece was a good experience. It was my first time playing out of this country.

“I had a good contract to be on over there but everyone knows what has happened in the last few months so it is going to be very hard over there, financially.

“I decided to break my contract and come back to England. I think I’ve made the right choice and I needed to make the best choice for me and my family.”
